By incorporating interactive live streaming and engagement from co-hosts Jackie Long and Dallas Rutherford, the show continues to foster and cultivate an active relationship with fans. This real-time interaction continues to draw anticipation and engagement for the show as well as shared experience that deepens the bond between hosts and fans. The introduction of the ”Postman P” mailbag segment also puts control of the show into the hands of fans, giving them the opportunity to ask questions about life in the NBA and gain insights they wouldn’t hear anywhere else. Paul has found ways to incorporate elements of the show’s fan participation into his on court activities, inviting fans to pitch ideas for a new signature three-point celebration, wearing fan made apparel during game days, and connecting with fans of the show while on the road. This was recently highlighted in the viral “Paul George - George Paul” moment, where Paul gave a shoutout on the podcast to a superfan and sent him show merch after the fan went viral for a striking resemblance to Paul. This turned online trolls to admirers of the superfan and Paul showed the fan more love with a meet-up after a game in DC. Objective When we set out to create “Podcast P” our goal was to develop a basketball-focused podcast that offered fans an insider’s perspective into the life of a franchise, all-star player and the real-time thoughts and experiences that unfold throughout a high-stakes NBA season. We launched the show at the height of the Los Angeles Clippers’ 2022-23 playoff run, leveraging PG’s status as a bonafide league-wide star and close relationships among his peers across the global basketball community to draw out never-before-heard insights and stories from some of the biggest names in hoops. Strategy & Execution Working in partnership with hosts Paul George, Jackie Long, and Dallas Rutherford, "Podcast P" was developed to resonate with the modern sports fan who craves authentic, insightful content and compelling insight into life in the NBA. Recognizing the shift in audience preferences, we deliberately avoided the typical hot takes and debate-style formats that saturate sports media. Instead, we focused on curating a conversational environment where guests feel comfortable sharing their perspectives without fear of "gotcha" moments.
