2025-26 City Edition Launch
The 7th Annual Awards
- Best Launch Campaign

ABOUT THIS ENTRY
This submission highlights the efforts of the Washington Wizards in launching their City Edition uniforms for the 2025-26 season. These uniforms pay homage to the franchise's history and aesthetics of the city.
How does this represent "Excellence in Engagement"?
This season’s city edition uniforms not only was a tribute to the city but to the alumni who laid a foundation for the franchise in one of its golden eras. The black and gold city edition jerseys reimagined an era of impact and gritty and play on the court with a feeling of regality and city pride for fans who rep the special edition attire.
Objective
Each season, NBA teams across the league debut a special City Edition uniform that pays homage to their program, city, or state. On September 22, 2026, the Washington Wizards launched our city edition uniforms. This season’s city edition uniforms are an ode to uniforms previously worn by the franchise in the 2006-009 seasons and an ode to the city and its golden aesthetics. The Wizards’ 2025-26 City Edition launch featured a modern and luxurious twist to the classic uniforms that represented a dominant and impactful style of play.
Strategy & Execution
D.C. is largely known for its monuments and museums. These pieces of architecture feature high end materials and lighting that resemble the gold accents and black shadows of our city edition uniforms. We utilized the rich feelings and accents of Union Station and the National Building Museum to highlight the grandeur of our new uniforms. Our players modeled the new uniforms in these locations with the modern twist of streetwear. This not only showcased the versatility of our players, but the uniforms themselves and how they represent the city. Digital media and email campaigns were deployed for the announcement of the city edition uniforms which would be worn for the first time on November 16, 2025, when the Wizards hosted the Nets. A video and photos displayed the uniforms in a regal manner with a gritty alternative.
The gameday launch for the city edition uniforms would be nothing short of golden as we launched a full gameday re-brand to match the uniforms. Our City Edition court is crested with the DMV logo, calling to the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia communities who support the Wizards.
