Fans can trust Monumental Sports & Entertainment to release relevant and engaging content moments after they occur. Alex Ovechkin: Drive to 895 represents an achievement of in-depth, longform storytelling on an incredibly tight timeline.   Objective Our objective was to capture the impact of Ovechkin’s pursuit by connecting fans and hockey lovers with the staggering reality of seeing all 895 goals in his march to hockey history. It took Alex Ovechkin 20 seasons of hall of fame caliber scoring to match and surpass Gretzky's seemingly unattainable record, and we wanted to put every goal on screen for viewers to appreciate the magnitude of the accomplishment.  But that wasn't enough - we also needed to tell the story of Ovechkin's career, and all the challenges and triumphs that led to this moment.  Strategy & Execution Our strategy centered on Ovechkin approaching the milestone in real time. This series was edited for a rapid release in the weeks immediately following Ovechkin's 895th goal to take advantage of fan excitement and boost viewing in the time between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs.  And for the voice of the documentary, we turned to longtime Capitals play-by-play announcer Joe Beninati, who's been calling Capitals games for the entirety of Ovechkin's storied career.
