ABOUT THIS ENTRY

Let's Glow Back is a light show that was the featured entertainment during halftime of a Broncos' home game. We set out to create a unique, FOMO-generating experience for our fans using the talents and expertise of our in-house entertainment teams and local vendors to bring the show to life.  Tasked with elevating successful 2023 and 2024 light shows, we shifted the focus to a more concert-style halftime where fans could sing along and feel as though they were part of the performance.

How does this represent "Excellence in Engagement"?

“Let’s Glow Back” continued and furthered the trend of light show innovation demonstrating a new way of presenting a concert halftime to sports fans.  With a track full of recognizable songs for fans to singalong to, LED wristbands in every seat, and spectacular visuals that keep you guessing, this style of halftime has become a new standard in how teams think about musical entertainment.

The NFL’s Voice of the Fan surveying system for the first time now features “Light Show” as a halftime category.  This category ranks as the third highest performing style of halftime show across the league furthering the concept that entertainment in stadiums is changing.

Objective

With “Let’s Glow Back”, our goal was to continue to innovate and elevate a style of halftime show that we popularized 3 seasons ago. We integrated LED wristbands to expand the scale of the show from the field to the stands and created a musical track that featured prominent singalong songs from the 1970s to the 1990s to fit within our throwback game theme.  As other teams across the NFL and other leagues adopt this style of halftime light show, our goal is to remain an industry standard and innovator in this space as we produce a show for Broncos Country that they cannot see anywhere else.

Strategy & Execution

We designed the show so that it was easy to enjoy and full of “wow” moments.  Drawing fan attention from the videoboard, to the stands, to the field, and to the sky with a firework finale, the scale demonstrated in “Let’s Glow Back” resulted in almost an 8-minute show that kept fans engaged throughout.   Lasting images of both our primary horsehead and throwback “D” logos glowing on field with fireworks above the stadium provided a photo opportunity for fans to take pictures to share with their family and friends, as well as on social media.  This engagement flooded social channels and further contributed to our goal of creating FOMO within the fanbase, making Empower Field at Mile High the place to be.

In a singalong style of show, we also wanted to ensure every fan had a song specifically for them through a diverse selection of music.  We chose tracks artists including Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Salt-N-Pepa, Spice Girls, and Backstreet Boys spanning 3 decades and a variety of genres.  This made for a digestible show with an array of highlight moments encouraging fans to document and share their own content, as well as engage with others’ following the performance.
