ABOUT THIS ENTRY

Operating an NFL team takes teamwork at a massive scale, requiring multiple departments rowing in the same direction. Everything It Takes! was created to pull back the curtain on how an NFL organization truly operates through a fully produced, access-driven film series. Our goal is to highlight some of the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to make the Chargers successful, on and off the field.

How does this represent "Excellence in Engagement"?

The Everything It Takes! series transforms curiosity into connection. Capitalizing on the growing popularity of behind-the-scenes content across other industries, we brought that same intrigue to the NFL. Millions tune in each Sunday to watch the football but fan interest often extends far beyond the field. Fans hope to understand what makes gameday possible and this series fuels that curiosity by giving an inside look into our organization in a way that feels transparent. 

By providing unprecedented access into the mechanics of running an NFL team, we deliver insights that are rarely seen on a professional level and create an engagement that runs deeper than metrics. For existing fans, the series strengthens emotional investment by revealing the unseen efforts throughout the organization. Just as important, it offers inspiration and a tangible look at a career in sports for aspiring professionals. Transparency builds trust, and trust builds fandom; at the end of the day, nurturing this fandom and helping it grow is always at the heart of what we do. 

Objective

Last season, we found a stride with behind-the-scenes storytelling through social-first, organically shot content that followed players and front office staff. The success of this content revealed a strong desire from fans who wanted to understand how the organization operates beyond gamedays. Building on this momentum, or goal this season was to expand that concept into a fully produced, scalable film series that delivered deeper access into how an NFL organization truly operates. 

With Everything It Takes!, we set out to create a cohesive series that demonstrates how “the show goes on” across multiple departments in the organization. By showcasing the unseen work across multiple departments, we aimed to satisfy fan curiosity while humanizing the members of the team beyond the field.

Strategy & Execution

We intentionally anchored each episode around a specific department, such as equipmentnutritiontravelrecovery, and even content. Each episode was structured to provide a raw, authentic look behind the curtain. Rather than relying on heavy narration, we introduced key staff members and players connected to each topic and allowed them to guide the story through their own voices and real experiences. If we were showcasing how the team prepares for cold weather, then the equipment staff is going to anchor that video. Moments like preparing for cold-weather games, traveling internationally with the team, or organizing player meals offered natural entry points for storytelling. We hoped to keep variety in the content and spread the love between departments while still highlighting key departments, players and staff of interest. 

Production required constant adaptability. Player schedules, injuries, and travel logistics often shifted our plans, making close communication with departments essential. Maintaining trust was equally critical. By clearly communicating our goals and respecting boundaries, we ensured participants felt comfortable sharing their work; allowing us to authentically showcase processes rarely seen by fans.
