ABOUT THIS ENTRY
Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli, also known as the ManningCast, returned for its fifth season, bringing its one-of-a-kind flavor to sports broadcasting. Elevating the typical analyst commentary with jokes, skits, and an eclectic roster of celebrity guests, the Manning brothers deliver a live megacast experience unlike anything else on television. Hosted by two of America’s most beloved former NFL quarterbacks, the show offers fans unfiltered, in-the-moment reactions, expert analysis, and plenty of brotherly banter.
Season 5 comprised twelve episodes spanning eleven regular-season games and a Wild Card playoff matchup, featuring an expanded guest lineup spanning Hollywood, professional sports, music, and comedy. Guests ranged from Bill Murray and Michael Phelps to President George W. Bush, Bob Iger, and Glen Powell. Broadcasting on ESPN2 and streaming via ESPN+, ManningCast once again established itself as the premier destination for NFL fans seeking the perfect blend of football expertise and entertainment.
How does this represent "Excellence in Engagement"?
ManningCast is setting a new standard for sports broadcasting, where only the best of the best can compete. By merging humor, NFL expertise, celebrity star power, and now immersive technology, ManningCast continues to evolve live sports coverage. In an era where countless broadcasts compete for attention, audiences have made it clear: they want more than statistics and surface-level commentary. The Mannings go above and beyond to blend entertainment and insight into a format that feels distinctly their own.
While other programs aim to replicate ManningCast’s laid-back chemistry, few can match the way it fuses personality with precision. Every season, the show raises the bar. First came the AR Table and Digital Whiteboard, which reimagined real-time analysis. Then came GhostFrame and XR integration, which placed fans right on the field beside Peyton and Eli.
At its core, ManningCast’s innovation is about accessibility. Complex plays are made easy to understand through visual storytelling, while guest appearances from athletes, comedians, and cultural icons keep the experience lively and unpredictable. The result is a show that appeals to both die-hard football fans and casual viewers who tune in for the humor, the energy, and the feeling of being part of something new.
Objective
As two former NFL champions whose brotherly dynamic has captured the hearts of American football fans for decades, Peyton and Eli Manning entered sports media with both the credibility and the likability to succeed. But within a landscape increasingly crowded with former athletes-turned-commentators, the Manning brothers set out to do something fundamentally different.
Their objective was to create the ultimate Monday Night Football destination: a broadcast where fans could hear expert commentary in real time, watch alongside beloved guest celebrities across entertainment and culture, and share a laugh as the brothers poke fun at each other in an authentically relatable way. ManningCast was designed to meet the demands of a fast-paced, digitally connected sports media landscape, appealing not just to die-hard football fans but to the broader cultural audience.
In Season 5, that objective evolved further: to deepen fan connection through an even more diverse and marquee guest roster, advanced in-broadcast technology including XR integrations and an upgraded digital whiteboard, and a robust cross-platform social strategy. The show aspired to be a weekly live event that fans would plan their Monday nights around, season after season.
Strategy & Execution
ManningCast leverages the Manning brothers’ celebrity network, a cross-platform social media strategy, and cutting-edge broadcast technology to reach the right audiences and deliver the highest-quality content each week.
Celebrity star power was deployed with intention throughout the season. The Season 5 guest lineup included icons from across entertainment, sports, and public life: Bill Murray, Michael Phelps, Glen Powell, Quinta Brunson, President George W. Bush, Bob Iger, Luke Combs, Danny DeVito, Michael Keaton, and more. Each guest was carefully selected to complement the on-field action while broadening ManningCast's cultural footprint.
Technologically, Season 5 doubled down on innovation. Leveraging GhostFrame technology, ManningCast seamlessly blended real and virtual environments to transport viewers straight to the field without ever leaving the studio. Their set-up enabled life-sized AR players to appear beside Peyton and Eli, so the duo could demonstrate plays as if they were standing on the line of scrimmage themselves. It allowed fans to see the field through the eyes of two Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks, experiencing the movement, strategy, and split-second decision-making that define the game.
