Ravens Mobile App 90s Throwback
The 7th Annual Awards
- Best Website or Mobile Experience

ABOUT THIS ENTRY
This campaign consists of a fully-functional 1990s computer-style reskinning of the Baltimore Ravens Mobile App built in celebration of the team's 30th season. The idea was to create a digital experience for all fans – whether in the stadium or at home.
How does this represent "Excellence in Engagement"?
The response to this initiative demonstrated an appreciation from both fans and non-fans for the team's extra effort to broaden organizational initiatives outside of the in-stadium gameday experience. Thinking outside of the box to create equal experiences for fans regardless of their physical location proved to have a positive impact on our engagement for an atypical campaign.
Objective
Develop a digital experience for all fans – whether in the stadium or at home – to celebrate the team's 30th season.
Strategy & Execution
With our home-opening game themed in recognition of our 30th season and elements from our original 1990s style used in-stadium, we strived to find a way to bring a similar game experience to fans at home through channels they were already using. The goal was to invoke the nostalgia of the time when the team was founded, honor our milestone season, and create excitement for the upcoming year.
We turned the app into a fully-functional 1990s computer style version of itself. It was important to keep all of the functionality exactly the same, while still finding ways to make it feel authentically '90s. To achieve this, we built over 130 individual custom assets in addition to modifying the designs of native assets to look as seamless as possible. The full design featured reskinned versions of our splash screen, more menu, game center, and home, watch, tickets, schedule, and team pages.
