Brian Cooper appointed to theScore’s Board of Directors
Brian Cooper, a veteran of the sports business landscape, is being added to sports media outlet theScore’s board of directors. Cooper joins as theScore looks to continue to grow in the sports media and gaming realms across the North Americas. Cooper is also the Chairman of MKTG Canada and previously served as a senior executive for MLSE.
Derek Chang set to depart from NBA China
NBA China is set to begin their search for a new CEO after announcing the departure of current CEO, Derek Chang on May 15th. Serving in the position since June 2018, Chang’s time as CEO was brief but eventful. Under his leadership, the league opened its largest store outside of North America in Beijing. Chang plans to return to his family in London.
Ann Hebert gets promotion with Nike
Current VP of Global Sales, Ann Hebert will soon become the VP/GM of North American Geography for Nike. Set to start her new role on June 1st, Herbert will succeed Nike vet Tom Peddie. In her new role, Hebert will lead end-to-end business including sales, marketing, direct, and more.
Hulu loses another vet in Nick Tran
Nick Tran is heading to TikTok from Hulu, just one week after Hulu’s head of ad sales transitioned to Snap. Tran will become the Head of Marketing, North America for TikTok. In his new role, Tran will oversee brand marketing, social, and campaigns for the exploding social media app. Prior to starting with Hulu, Tran served a stint with Samsung.
Ted Johnson heads to Norden Strategies
Ted Johnson is transitioning to Norden Strategies full time after a 17-year stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx where he served as the Chief Strategy Officer. Johnson founded Norden Strategies and will be working on this project exclusively.
Alexandra Nolen packs her bags for Bristol
Alexandra Nolen is joining the Worldwide Leader in Sports as part of ESPN’s features team. In this role, Nolen will be working on producing and editing long-form features. Nolen is a 3x Emmy-winner and joins ESPN from the Philadelphia 76ers where she served as a video producer and editor.
Jim Rich tapped to lead G/O Media’s Editorial team
Jim Rich is becoming G/O Media as the brand’s Editorial Director. Rich was elevated to this role from serving as the editor and chief of Daily News. Rich was tapped in early January to relaunch Deadspin, which is a G/O Media site along with Daily News. Rich will now be tasked with overseeing all of G/O Media’s roster of sites and publications.
