ABOUT THIS ENTRY
The New York Jets incorporated new game day elements to enhanced the overall fan experience for the start of 2023 season. The team believed it could take advantage of the technical ability of MetLife Stadium and create choreographed game experience that included coordinated programming of four video boards, video bands, music, t-shirt cannons, and light show.
How does this represent “Excellence in Engagement”?
In the heart of it all, there is no brighter stage than MetLife Stadium—and in sports, there is no bigger moment than gameday. Throughout the 2023 season, the Jets created an immersive atmosphere from the moment fans entered the stadium until the clock hit 0:00. By enhancing gameday entertainment and creating an energy-filled environment, the Jets have created a new standard for NFL teams and a benchmark for excellence in the world of sports fandom.
Objective
The New York Jets know how to throw a party – perhaps, the biggest party in New York. Heading into the 2023 season, excitement for the New York Jets reached a fever pitch; the team had signed All-Pro quarterback Aaron Rodgers, their dynamic young roster was featured on HBO’s Hard Knocks and awarded three primetime night games for 2023 at MetLife Stadium – home of the biggest and best events in the world. Ticket demand was at an all-time high and games were touted as “the place to be. The world was tuned in to watch the Jets and the team knew there was an opportunity to show fans, both in-stadium and at home, why the Jets gameday experience was second-to-none.
Strategy & Execution
To take the fan experience to the next level, the team created a fully immersive entertainment platform throughout gameday. The Jets took full advantage of the technical ability of MetLife Stadium and created a “Get in Before It Begins” campaign and implement of LED wristbands (pixmob). **Get In Before It Begins** • To ensure fans experienced it all, the team successfully executed a multi-channel awareness campaign, urging fans to arrive to their seats early so they could experience the enhancements for themselves. The campaign was created after seeing consistent gate entry rates around 50% for kickoff. **LED Wristbands** • A first for any NFL team, the Jets gave all fans in attendance a LED wristband, which choreographed to light up MetLife Stadium and synced to live music for player introductions, the national anthem, halftime and other in game moments – creating a powerful and dynamic visual experience. Fans were also entertained with fireworks, laser-shows, t-shirt cannons and fun video-board programming throughout the game.
