Denver Broncos: Throwback Campaign
The 7th Annual Awards
- Best Graphic Design
ABOUT THIS ENTRY
2024 marked the re-introduction of the Broncos Orange Crush threads. The goal of our visual design package was to pay homage to the 1977 classic in a modern way, combining a nostalgic feel and rich team tradition with new-age aesthetics.
How does this represent "Excellence in Engagement"?
By re-thinking "traditional," we raised the bar on throwback designs by giving fans what they wanted while also showing them something that they've never seen in our visual design language. Our throwback campaign completely flipped our aesthetic throughout the week from top to bottom across all forms of communication and content. Fans welcomed the break from the norm and responded to the hype leading up to gameday, inspiring others to imagine their gameday experience differently - touching all aspects of content associated with the week and game.
Objective
With the Broncos' introduction of a throwback uniform, the creative team was tasked with integrating the throwback aesthetic into our content across a variety of mediums. The goal was to hype the launch of the uniform, encourage fan engagement and tell the overall story behind the Orange Crush-inspired threads. The result was a cohesive brand look & feel for the Broncos' social media channels & beyond that felt modern yet still paid homage to the 1977 classics
Strategy & Execution
This entry was designed with the modern sports fan in mind because we created engaging visuals that brought a sense of nostalgia to our content, yet still captured the interest of the modern fan online. We did this by pairing modern design aesthetics with a nostalgia-infused foundation. We integrated a variety of mediums through static graphics as well as video and motion graphics to reinforce this modern throwback theme across all our content.
