The 7th Annual Awards
- Best Use of Animation or Motion Graphics
ABOUT THIS ENTRY
The Indiana Fever captured the excitement and significance of selecting Caitlin Clark as the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft with unique, original creative - the Caitlin Clark Action Figure.
How does this represent "Excellence in Engagement"?
We did something unexpected on a night where fans are getting flooded with content from many brands, teams and outlets. We were able to break through the noise to achieve incredible results.
Objective
The primary goal of the action figure video was to create a buzz around the drafting of Caitlin Clark, a highly anticipated event for both the team and our fans. We wanted to generate as much excitement as possible on draft night, and we wanted to do it without a traditional sizzle that every other sports team creates. We wanted to be unique. We wanted to highlight Caitlin’s dynamic and powerful playing style, which perfectly aligned with the metaphor of an action figure – a symbol of strength and heroism.
Strategy & Execution
We wanted this piece to break through the noise of draft night. We wanted it to be something unexpected. There’s a ton of content flooding fans on a night like that, especially with the anticipation of Caitlin Clark going No. 1 overall, and we wanted to own the moment for our brand. As the second post after we announced the pick, we maximized its reach and impact in critical window.
The video opens with Caitlin Clark’s action figure breaking out of its box, symbolizing a fresh start with the Fever in the WNBA, and even though it’s a quick-hitting social video, it tells a story. The video features dynamic scenes of action and skills fans could expect from Caitlin, incredible handles, logo threes, speed & precision. We launched the video across multiple platforms to ensure it reached a wide audience.
