Intuit Dome: Leveraging Technology
The 7th Annual Awards
- Best Use of Technology
ABOUT THIS ENTRY
The objective was to create a true home-court advantage by filling every seat with engaged, passionate fans and rewarding behaviors that energize the team. By knowing over 80% of attendees through personalized ticketing and innovations like GameFace ID and the Halo Board, Intuit Dome delivers seamless experiences and interactive engagement that keeps fans connected and actively involved from start to finish.
How does this represent "Excellence in Engagement"?
The technology at Intuit Dome sets new benchmarks in fan engagement by creating a fully immersive, personalized, and frictionless experience. With over 85% of fans’ identities captured, we know our audience better than ever before, unlocking endless possibilities to tailor communications, rewards, and promotions based on individual behaviors and preferences. This deep understanding of our fans allows us to make every decision, from frictionless stores to the number of bathrooms, with the goal of enhancing their in-seat experience.
Biometric technology and seamless entry eliminate wait times, ensuring fans get to their seats quickly. The 360-degree Halo Board, powered by a real-time game engine, displays interactive stats, replays, and games, keeping fans engaged. Armrest controls, equipped with lights, lasers and Bluetooth, allow fans to interact directly with the game.
AI-driven frictionless stores and decibel readers encourage early attendance and participation, further enhancing fan engagement. This innovative approach to fan experience boosts satisfaction and team performance, as evidenced by opposing teams’ reduced free-throw percentages against “The Wall.”
Intuit Dome’s technology sets a new standard for personalized, efficient, and interactive venues, inspiring other arenas to prioritize fan-centric design and tech-driven solutions that reshape audience engagement.
Objective
The unique objective behind this work was to create an authentic and measurable home-court advantage—one where every seat is filled with passionate fans, proudly wearing Clippers gear and actively cheering for the team. To achieve this, we focused on incentivizing and rewarding fan behaviors that directly impact game energy and player performance. But it’s impossible to foster that connection when you only know who 30% of your fans are. That’s why we prioritized ensuring every fan has their own ticket and account, giving us the ability to deliver personalized experiences.
We introduced GameFace ID, allowing fans to move seamlessly through security, entry points, markets, and stores without waiting in lines—removing friction from their experience. Inside the arena, the Halo Board is a critical tool in sustaining home-court advantage. Beyond delivering advanced stats and real-time multi-angle replays, it powers interactive games and exclusive content that keep fans engaged, entertained, and focused from tip-off to the final buzzer. Every element of the technology was designed to bring fans closer to the action and make them an active part of the team’s success.
Strategy & Execution
The technology at Intuit Dome was designed to meet the expectations of today’s modern sports fan—tech-savvy, experience-driven, and focused on convenience. From the moment fans arrive, they enjoy a frictionless journey. The GameFace ID or Identity Pass allows them to enter the arena without pulling out a phone or scanning a ticket—once their account is set up, they simply walk through, reducing wait times and eliminating hassle.
Inside, the 360-degree Halo Board delivers real-time stats, multi-angle replays, and interactive games that keep fans informed and engaged from tip-off to the final buzzer. It’s designed to enhance focus on the game and create an electric atmosphere, driving home-court advantage.
Mobile-first concessions with self-checkout reduce wait times from 30 minutes to under two, so fans spend more time in their seats and less time in lines. Personalized rewards and experiences, powered by deep fan insights (we know over 80% of attendees—far beyond the NBA average), make each visit feel tailored and rewarding. Sustainability is also a priority, with Intuit Dome running 100% on solar power. Altogether, the technology creates a seamless, personalized, and exciting experience that redefines live sports entertainment.
