Somos USA chronicles he diverse and multi-national cultures in the U.S. Soccer ecosystem through the lens of prominent, multicultural soccer personalities who showcase their roots while embracing their American pride. This series highlights these communities and celebrates their distinct cultures and traditions, uniting the heritage of soccer’s past and the
promise of its future.

How does this represent "Excellence in Engagement"?

While this series highlighted the Hispanic community and was created in Spanish for that audience, it was geared towards everyone. It captures the melting pot that is the United States, and that is a universal theme for all Americans. While this dual-national pride might be more prevelant in the Hispanic audience, the series hopes to educate others about these cultures, how they're shaping soccer in the United States, and a person's ability to support multiple teams.

Objective

Multicultural fans want to honor their roots while simultaneously embracing their American pride. This series aimed to showcase the diverse and multinational cultures that form the soccer ecosystem in the United States.

Somos USA spotlights three soccer players born and raised in the U.S. or who have spent a significant portion of their careers within the U.S. Soccer landscape. The series journeys through their various communities, celebrating their distinct cultures. Beyond the goals and the pitches, it’s a journey through traditions, passions, and stories – uniting the heritage of soccer’s past with the promise of the future.

This series transcends the traditional sit-down interview format, taking viewers on a deeper journey into the lives and stories of our Latino subjects from the United States. Rather than merely recounting personal experiences and career development, we aim to explore the rich tapestry of their heritage and foster a profound emotional connection with our audience.

Strategy & Execution

This series transcends the traditional sit-down interview format, taking viewers on a deeper journey into the lives and stories of our Latino subjects from the United States. Rather than merely recounting personal experiences and career development, we aim to explore the rich tapestry of their heritage and foster a profound emotional connection with our audience. To showcase their heritage, we traveled to different communities and countries to capture the environment and their family.

And to speak specifically to our Hispanic audience, the series was created in Spanish - the first Spanish-language series created by U.S. Soccer.

The long-form series lived on YouTube, USSoccer.com and the U.S. Soccer app, with short-form clips created for social platforms to drive audiences to the full-length episodes.
