From Lagos to Baltimore
The 7th Annual Awards
- Best Athlete Storytelling

ABOUT THIS ENTRY
The feature follows Odafe Oweh as he returns to Nigeria to explore his roots, using a youth football camp in Lagos as a way to reconnect with his heritage and inspire the next generation to embrace the sport. Joined by fellow Ravens and fellow Nigerians David Ojabo and Nnamdi Madubuike, the documentary highlights their shared cultural bond and the pride they carry in representing their lineage on and off the field.
How does this represent "Excellence in Engagement"?
We saw positive comments from fans domestically and internationally. Many comments included positive sentiment of fans wanting to explore where they came from, how much impact a simple football camp can have on someone, and brotherhood. Our goal is to educate as well as entertain and cast a wide net in finding stories that resonate in ways you might not expect.
Objective
We wanted to take our fans on an international journey with three
players who share a bond on and off the field through their homeland of Nigeria.
Strategy & Execution
We designed this to be part of our long-form documentary show Wired. Our fans have come to expect all kinds of behind-the-scenes access from our content, so we took them halfway across the world to tell a story of opportunity and giving back.
