ABOUT THIS ENTRY

This edition of Lions Legends takes a look back at the career of Pride of the Lions inductee Lomas Brown, who spent 11 of his 18 NFL seasons with the Detroit Lions and is currently up for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His story with the Lions spans from 1985 to today, as a player and radio broadcaster for the team. His story is told by Lomas himself and by teammates on the field & up in the radio booth.

 

How does this represent "Excellence in Engagement"?

I think what this shows, is that features where teams promote their greats, can in fact have impact in promotional campaigns like hall of fame candidacy. Someone with his success across 18 seasons in the league brought along many who were willing to advocate for him and he deserves such praise. 

Objective

The goal was to promote former Detroit Lion, Lomas Brown, for hall of fame candidacy and showcase his career as an NFL offensive lineman and as a broadcaster for the team now. It was also to pay respects to a great man who has contributed to the Detroit community on and off the field since 1985. With such a long history of impact here, the ordinary tribute video for Lomas did not seem right, and we went forward with a more expansive project detailing his life as a Detroiter and what he has accomplished in football.

Strategy & Execution

The goal was to have this piece debut prior to the 2nd round of hall of fame voting for the voters (NFL writers) to consider Lomas' candidacy and to show what a quality of man he truly is. Through the months prior our organization had posted a collection of stills, quotes from greats and statistical facts to promote him as well. It was published on November 7, 2025. To tell his story properly, we sat down with writers, broadcasters and teammates of his to show the whole man, not just the talented player. This piece shows why Lomas is foundational to telling the story of the franchise and of football itself.
