ABOUT THIS ENTRY
The Golden State Warriors tapped local hip-hop legend Larry June to unveil the 2024-2025 City Edition jersey. The jersey pays homage to the Bay's most iconic symbol, the Golden Gate Bridge.
How does this represent "Excellence in Engagement"?
The comments on this post speak for themselves. Not only did our fans love the new jersey design and what it represents, we were lauded for our use of Larry June to tie the story, the City, and the team together in one cohesive piece. Typically, all 30 NBA teams release their City Edition jersey on the same day which crowds the space online. This piece was able to cut through the noise.
Objective
The NBA City Edition program provides teams with an opportunity to storytell around a theme that engages their local community. The theme for the 2024-25 Golden State Warriors City Edition uniform was "The City Calls" and payed homage to the Golden Gate Bridge. We were tasked with telling the story of our new uniforms to our local fan base.
Strategy & Execution
With the icon image of the Golden Gate Bridge, we needed an iconic Bay Area personality to match. Enter Bay Area rapper Larry June, whose ties to the Bay give this content authenticity and swagger.
Larry's signature bariton sets the tone for this piece, and sweeping drone shots and sharp cinematography help give the bridge its proper due in this video.
