This opportunity to take the field one last time with a legendary player doesn't come around very often. That's why we believe fans valued the chance to experience such a personal and behind-the-scenes look at the day. Hopefully we can continue to provide them with this kind of access when the opportunities arise.
Objective
Most NFL teams produce mic’d up videos throughout the season to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the action and personalities on the field. Our goal for this piece was to give fans a chance to see Matthew Slater's final game as a New England Patriot from his point of view. Slater had been a Patriot for his entire career (16 seasons), and was known for being the heart and soul of the special teams unit. It was important for us to give the fans a more special look at the last game of his career.
Strategy & Execution
Our team knew early on that we wanted to make Slater's final game special after such a monumental career. Having him mic'd up would not only give fans a more personal look into his final game, but also highlight just how dominant he was as a special teams player. Good special teams play can often go unnoticed so it was important to also highlight his play on the field along with the more emotional moments throughout the game.
